The pattern of Iranian hand-woven carpet has a unique variety of design and taste, the natural environment and the location of the carpet texture also affect its pattern.  The designs of handwoven carpets can be divided into two categories: first, there are urban maps, such as (Isfahan, Tabriz, Qom, etc.), whose designs are rooted in the classical traditions of the Safavid era, and second, there are rural or nomadic maps, which are more geometric and have an artistic taste.  More abstract weavers show it.  Of course, this division is not absolute, because rural or tribal maps are often designs taken from classic models that the weaver has changed according to his taste.  However, urban maps have a higher variety and more complex designs, urban carpets usually have floral designs and plant motifs with rhythms or wavy and delicate curves, while rural and urban carpets generally show abstract forms that are repeated more and without those charming curves.  They are drawn smoother and straighter.

 Hand-woven carpet with tangerine pattern

The most common design that creates symmetry on two axes is the Latrange design.  Tangerine is a circular design that is placed in the center of the carpet and its dimensions and effect overshadow the rest of the design.  In more traditional compositions in the corners of the background, the bergamot design is repeated as a quarter (a quarter of bergamot).  The bergamot design, as it was said, is a design that has an ancient background and the geometric shape used in Egyptian Mamluk carpets and Iranian court carpets, related to the Safavid period, with the use of bergamot in the center, is a distinctive feature of the handwoven products of this period.  which was decorated with patterns of other materials
